Hi guys

Im trying to find out what round file i need for my stihl MS290 (Pitch- 3/8 gauge- 1.6mm/0.063 drive links- 66) im having a hard time finding a size chart on google, it comes up with a ton of bs charts that are either unrealated to what im looking for or im not reading them properly. Does anyone know of a decent website/link where all the info is crystal clear?

And am i right in thinking that all depth gauge tools are the same? Ive had my head battered with info overload and im not thinking strieght....... Bloody google

Cheers

I did see this on the stihl website Nepia the chart below is what i came across, but it confuses me because the second one from the bottom sounds like the right size but physically looking at the chain 4.0mm looks way too small. And other charts i see mention sizes from 5.2 to 5.5

5.2mm is a STIHL only size (possible money making scheme?) The 5.5mm will work fine and would be what Oregon suggest anyway. On the STIHL chart it suggests 4mm on a 3/8” PICCO which is what you would find on a 201tc climbing saw for example. Normal 3/8” is 5.2/5.5mm

Boggle, '3/8' doesn't refer to the size of the tooth as such, it refers to drive link length - the gap between rivets so to speak.  A Picco tooth is just smaller than the tooth usually associated with a 3/8" drive link.

I hope!

Yes, it's annoying but as said the standard stihl files are 5.2mm although just to confuse it more they do use other sizes. I used the 5.2 ones.
