Its c for me, i have a red diesel tank at the yard. I cant have a petrol tank and buy in bulk, there is no saving

apparently there's not much in it, consumption wise between the efi petrols they fitting now and the diesels. Also, taken from the timberwolf white paper on the new chipper rules;

 

Stage V diesel engines will be more expensive than the current diesel offerings due to the mechanical fuel systems being replaced with more complex and costly fuel and emission cleaning systems. In addition, the new diesel engines will not be able to run on rebated fuel (‘red diesel’) due to the emissions legislation and engine configuration. Thus, the running costs of new diesel engines will also increase, meaning petrol units will be the most cost effective option to run (when taking into account the full cost of ownership).

I think the highlighted bold text is bollox, excuse the language. Its just a dye thats added, it womt do any harm to the engine, it might not pass emmisions tests, but since there is no mot for them, it cant make any difference

I do recall 'agri' deisel having more soap ( or anti-foaming agents in it ) and other additives for prolonged industrial engine use , so it is 'different' to road diesel which has sulphur compounds added at refining - am no Chemist but it aint just 'red' dye ! K

Interesting extract... I know 100% that golf courses do not have separate tanks for white "road" diesel on their large fairway mowers, rough mowers, tractors etc that have DPF and then a red diesel tank for the smaller engined greens and tees mowers.

 

Rightly or wrongly, the same red diesel goes in everything.

The stuff i buy foams all over the place, so if the have added an anti foaming agent, it dont bloody work, but it does have an additive to combat water from the bio diesel, but i gather bio diesel is added to road diesel now
