Our Iveco tipper broke off. Rust-tastic. What do we think? Worth fixing? Truck is pretty old and tatty but a good work horse...

What should we expect to pay for it to be welded back together?

ouch. did the mot not pick that up?

Ours didn't before ours did the same previously

Not too difficult a fix, grafting in new rails and attaching the hinge. We repaired it ourself over a day or two, but I would think it would be fairly pricy to get someone to do it, which is a shame if it's other- wise decent motor.

I would get a quote, then weigh up the cost, downtime etc against a newer vehicle. But if buying s/h there's lots of unknowns, so you may buy more issues.

We ran that particular vehicle for another three yrs without a tipping problem and it's only currently off road due to an injector/fuel pump problem.

Way better than ours, which broke both and body fell off, bending the ram mounts:$

£200, £300 depending how much works involved in grafting new steel in to weld the pivot points to

could be cheaper/ easier to just get a new body if can find one. Know someone whos body was on its way out and got a reconditioned tipper body for about £800 fitted if i remember right

Thanks everyone

Buy a welder an do it yourself.   once you have a welder you can fix other things besides..
