Bringing and old topic I started back up. I looked at some mini skid steers at the show today and I am dead set on getting one. I liked the stuff Ditch Which had, anyone had any use with these machines? any issues to speak of?

I have looked at a few options and have Vermeer, Boxer and Ditch witch in the line up. However vermeer are based a little to far north for me if something goes wrong I don't fancy a 4 hour trip.

I noticed the Boxeruk site is down and I can't fine anything of them on google anymore, its like they have vanished? does anyone know if they are still based in Tetbury?

I'm getting the feeling that unless I import I'm not going to be fining a second hand machine and am going to have to accept £20,000-25,000(with attachments).

or has anyone on here imported plant over from the US? good idea or a really terrible one?

Any thoughts or ideas as always are greatly welcomed. Hope you all have a good Arbshow for those that went.

Boxer UK have gone as we used to know it - luckily!

Steel Viper are now the Uk agents and actually understand what customer service is and are able to get parts for all boxers. Not sure how many machines they stock but pretty sure they have most models here already.

Diggers are certainly more versatile but that’s probably for another thread sometime

in short I’ve never regretted getting rid of my boxer, I found that you could easily get large pieces of timber onto a arb trolley or similar then we would lift them into a trailer with the roofmount at the other end all without damaging a lawn, that said a skid steer changed the way I worked and I probably wouldn’t be working the way I do now without it

i did wrote a blog post for treekit a couple of years ago on the subject if anybody’s interested
