Small timber lorry 4x4

Is any body operating any thing like this or similar for small scale timber operations?

Or are they a total waste of time off road , toying with ideas for low impact forestry work and thinking you could get an alpine and timber trailer transported on it then take timber away... a few sites we have coming up have no access for an arctic and the thought of hauling it all back on the valmet and 8 tonne trailer is painful!

Was looking at this earlier today matty as though it would be very useful for exactly what you are describing and with the crane at the back it'd be able to reverse into somewhere and clear up as it go's

That's one option , our valmet is a 6400 and struggles with a loaded 8 tonne trailer , but that option means buy a bigger tractor as well as trailer and loose a lot of manoeuvrability in the woods.. and both cost a lot of money and you still have the speed of a tractor.

That's mine! Bloody good bit of kit, but time for an upgrade. It's much much better off road than you'd think as long as it's not wet! The crane is in a great place to make the most of the reach!

I need a tipper now though... There's always something!

The thing that worries me is the special vehicle bit , so you can drive that on a car licence ? It looks spot on but my gut feeling is you would get torn apart if investigated.

You may be right if pulled by VOSA. What makes it any different from any other lorry with Hiab apart from being 4x4.
