Harvest moon

First one here in a decade apparently. Got a really good view of it in a clear sky here very impressed.

Yep . Beautiful here . Is it still a " harvest moon " or is it now a " Hunters moon " ? Either way it is a stunner .

Think we get one here in devon every year. Isn't it meant to be the full moon nearest the autumn equinox or something.

Thats what I thought .  Think we get two  a year . Also one at the spring  equinox . ?

Sorry, the difference is it's an October harvest moon. The harvest moon is the full moon nearest the Autumn equinox, what do they harvest in Spring ? and usually occurs in September but is late this year. Telegraph article explains it well I think

There is also the  " Hunters Moon " which appears in October , after the " Harvest Moon " ( usually September ) and is the full moon with the red/orange  tinge .
