Saw some stunning things whilst on holiday, but one of my favourites was a walk down to the Triberg falls in part of the black forest in Germany.

The way trees grow around rocks is always fascinating, took several pics.

Even saw a few local rate my hinge efforts.

The waterfalls themselves were well worth a visit too.

One of the biggest surprises for me though was the black squirrels, something I didn't even know existed.  I thought they were reds at first, but a google search told me otherwise.  They weren't the easiest things to photograph however!

I don't remember those black rats.  We hand fed reds.

I remember seeing melanistic?? grey squirrels near Boston 15 years ago, they turn black  in hot weather, a similar thing has been reported in Norfolk within the last few years. So are these common greys, Sciurus carolinensis?
