Very vague!!

So I pulled this drift wood off of the beach near Formby. It was in total around 20 foot in length.

 

Is there enough in the pic for someone to know what tree this used to be?

 

The grain looks brilliant really tight.

I'd guess at Elm, but could be almost anything from those pic's, have you a pic of the end grain?

Could be a tropical hardwood or just about anything if it came in on the tide.

 

No reason to think it's British (or even European)

Looks strong . Is it heavy , like Hawthorn or light like a soft wood ?

Weighs a ton but this may be water from being on the tide. Feels like a hard wood. And cuts like a hard wood too.

A section of the wood cut
