Boots with steel shank?

i think the klima airs do or at least they have a very stiff sole

My klima airs are just about to have there third sole and have done me two years. I think they have a kevlar shank or thats what the info on them says. The info also says they have a carbon fiber toecap but this is not true as I have a hole in the leather on the toe and the toecap is definatly metal.

Whatever gives the most support to your arches when wearing spikes. Last three pairs of boots I've had have been Haix, found they give minimal support when wearing spikes.

 

Any other ideas?

What spikes do you use Tim? I have the worst tree boots in the world and they are fine with my spikes.

Bashlin alloys with soft velcro wraps. There's something very wrong about those Bashlin alloys, they're badly designed, uncomfortable and the velcro wraps only make them worse.

 

 

I cant use geckos as the base is too narrow for my feet, was considering buying Buck titaniums and getting the add-on steel plates if I cant find boots that give good support to my arches.

I have Bashlin steel spikes with the twisted shank, very comfy, can wear thm all day with no problems. My boots soles arn't particularly stiff either.

The reason I ask is that I think the geckos that i used don't seem to put pressure on my arches at all. I have rubbish soft soled chainsaw boots that are comfy. The pressure from the spikes seems to go into the calf area via the velcro pad.

 

I understand that if you can't fit the geckos then thats no help at all, but maybe different spikes would help? I can wear spikes all day long and not notice any problems in my arches whereas I definatly used to with my old buckinghams but they had the crappy leather straps not the velcro wraps.
