With the prediction that there will be no more petrol or diesel powered vehicles manufactured by 2040 I have been pondering ( I very well may be dead by then )  I recon a pickup truck powered by the Tesla batteries would be ideal for the " game keeper / forrester  / farmer " type chap . The huge torque that electric motors produce and the fact that you can plug it in every night after work kinda appeals to me .  Certainly pisses on the DPF regen cycle thing going on with many of the pick ups now a days ( D max ) etc . Your thoughts please ..........

My thoughts exactly. The efficiency of electric is more or less proportional to the speed of travel, as I understand it. You can do twice the milage at half the speed kind of thing, but not great for road travel. Perfect for low speed low gear driving though...nice and quiet in the woods.

They had milk carts doing this bloody years ago !!!   Perhaps all cars in future will have high efficiency  solar panels on roof and bonnet to help, especially when parked up during the day , and / or people stop driving around so much !!  also where will the government get its lost revenue from fuel duty from in the future ?

Good point about the revenue but they will find a way to be sure . I used to help the milk man when I was a nipper and yes he had an electric float . I think things have come a long way since then . The Tesla power plant is  recognized as one of , or the best to date .

The revenue loss would be more than offset by the cost to people's health, especially in densely populated areas.

I am in the process of trying to buy an electric 10t truck, the future is now...
