Planting Drones.

They've been talking about planting trees by helicopter for years. Seemingly the trees have a weight (like a piece of steel) attached to them so that they bury into the ground.

I can't see them being able to plant trees at the right spacing for commercial crops. However I'd imagine planting trees for wildlife would work quite well.

Drones could be amazing for forestry. Imagine removing remote timber by drone? Or fighting a forest fire with water carrying drones?

They trialed it in China where everyone wears those pointy hats, the seed deflected off the hats into the ground. There was talk of them introducing pointy hats to the UK for the same reason but it was deemed not politically correct as its a form of cultural appropriation ie supposedly insulting to the Chinese.

They seem to be getting on fine without it in India.

The main targets for reforestation often aren't short of manpower. In any case, a project is more likely to succeed if the locals are actively involved, than if it's some Western expert parachuted in with his toys.
