Which tyres for pickup in "Steep Muddy forest/wood tracks?

insa Dakar are very good, just be careful when its very wet tarmac..... drifting trucks isn't ideal when there's other cars and stuff around!!

As said here before sometimes it is just the track and you can not get up regardless of tyres. I really think that the narrower tyres do find the grip underneath in some situations. Nothing stopping you going narrower on the tyre or even getting a set of steel rims to accommodate. Good luck

I run an old Safari on Kumho muds KL-71's for fencing so I spend quite a bit of time on tracks and off road.

 

As with any mud tyre you have to be very "conservative" on wet roads but they will take you a lot of places. If you have trouble with width its usually fine to go down a size in width on the same rims (harder to go up a width size).

 

The biggest difference you'll make with any tyre is airing them down to 18 or 20 psi - you'll get 20-30% more traction. I only air down if I absolutely have to (but it pays to do it before a problem develops) and carry a compressor to put them back up again.

If the woodland tracks have tree roots on the surface or just under it will not matter what tyres you have on your truck once you get on a root you will just sit there, had it happen on dry ground as well.

I have a old tractor that I can pull my pickup up a steep wet hill or go as far as I can with the pickup then put the saws, fuel etc on the tractor for the final steep bit. or you could try putting tyre chains on. much cheaper than 4 brand new tyres.

Bfgs are nice and thick unlike a lot of other brands as I found to my cost when buying second hand trucks. It was never long before they were on bfg mt' s they well worth the extra £20 each all day long.

yep I agree but man oh man are they hard to come by as new stocks get depleted quite quickly and I end up having to buy a different brand.
