Income protection / injury and critical insurance cover

Looking to renew my current policy. At the moment I have income protection - premium is £40 and would pay out in the event of an accident £1000 per month. Does anyone have income protection / injury and critical insurance in place and who do you use?

£40 something a month for income protection with legal and general

Liverpool Victoria £27 per month for £1250 cover but can't claim for first 4 weeks of accident. Trying to change it to 1 week so I'll update post next week. Expect monthly cost will go up though. They did say it also takes in to account your age.

Interesting thread, I was recently quoted £44 per month for £1000 pm payout after 4 weeks off. It was about £68 for a policy where you could claim straight away.

Not that good compared to some of the above quotes.

Has anybody had a positive experience (obviously following an unfortunate event) with these types of policy?

 

I don't have such cover myself, but I know a bloke I used to work with who picked up Lymes disease.

 

After he had correctly educated the GP the diagnosis was confirmed.

 

He tried claiming against loss of earnings but found it all to be too much hassle.

 

Granted he was a recent start up, but the insurers wanted years worth of business paperwork to prove income levels.

 

Just a cautionary note really, worth checking the claims procedure in fine detail before signing up!

MetLife are a great company but only cover for broken bones. Ideal if you play sports and intensive work. I shattered my collarbone 3 days after taking out my policy and got paid out within 10 days of making the claim 👌🏻.
