Help! What rot is this....??

My neighbours Beech tree failed this morning at the roots with no obvious outward signs and a healthy crown. Does this look like Kretzschmaria? Meripulus? Anything else...?

 

Also, can the fungus spread through its roots to other tree roots close by??

i think honey fungus is the root rotter but i'm sure an expert will come along and state the correct type.

Not sure if it spreads via roots but you should check adjacent trees of the same species for its presence.
