I had a cart load of fence post holes to dig for myself, so went on internet and bought a cheap chinese post hole borer complete with augers for about £150, and believe it or not its been a brilliant little thing. Ok it may not last a life time, but its done what i needed it for and paid for its self many times over by doing work over and above what i got it for. So for me, if it breaks down tomorrow it wouldnt matter as its earnt money it wasnt bought for.

I wouldnt be without it now. In pure soil its a doddle, and in stoney ground its still so much easier. It just chews through the ground. All i do is start it off then every 6 inch or so just lift it out the hole, just so it doesnt get bogged down, and also to clear all the debris out bit by bit, if you know what i mean.

I did the the same . Eventually the petrol dissolved the primer bulb . As you say paid for itself over and over .
