I think (and I'm on holiday ATM) that the ignition barrel is faulty, (as advised by TomD) Redwood have been very helpful and have sent me one to replace.

 

We shorted the starter and it seemed to be cured, when I get back I'll fit the new one and know for sure.

Well, back now and fitted new barrel and keys, runs and starts perfectly.

I know!

 

Thing is they had previously sent me another barrel to try and sort another issue.

It was exactly the same as the original, didn't sort the issue but I assumed as it had been replaced it couldn't be the problem.

 

The new barrel is a different make, altogether different key etc.

 

Anyway all's well for the moment.
