Would depend on the rigging you do ? They have there place but if I'm rigging it is usually over a tight DZ or targets and usually needs pre tensioning for a cradle to not hit targets on the swing or as much slack taking out as possible on big negative rigged timber so it does not hit the deck so would normally go for a rigging block every time.

I like the rings on controlled speed lines on the lowering device rope, that feels smooth and stops your rig rollin back down as there is a bit of friction ,but not a fan of them really.

Would like to try that Sherrill block though... I can see that having a place.

Have you got one Paul ? I went to order one from honeys but out of stock and not paying the import charges.. this looks like it makes sense to me if I'm rigging with one groundie and need to take control or want to use a more compromised rigging point.

I do plenty of rigging with stuff under it matty and as for not being able to pre tension a line if using rings total rubbish I'm afraid but each to there own I do use a bloke if am gunner be lifting with grcs but if it's just pre tension rings are fine in my opinion what do I no though 🙄

I didn't get one Matt, couldn't be bothered with importing etc. I think Mike at Treekit sells them. I like the concept, maybe we have gone full circle with a twist on a topping strop?
