Well for the last month I've been running my 550 on 3/8 and I'm going back to 3/25 the saw has just destroyed its clutch bearing clutch housing and the clutch has cracked itself , I'm just praying it has not taken out the crank bearing too.

The newer .325 bars shouldn't fail at the noise like the old ones did. When they get a further revamp like the 3/8 bars they will last much much longer

 

 

Have they changed the clutch on the 550? A parts IPL I was looking at showed one looking like a 560's.

Also does husqvarna recommend fitting 3/8 chain?

The first 550 I had came with a 560 style clutch. Bamboozled my local husky dealer for a bit.
