Should I take this job?

Morning all,

So in the summer I passed my CS30/31 and have since been doing occasional forestry and milling.

I've been offered 3-5days work pollarding a 300-400m length of hedge. I would be working from a man box on a telehandler. Nothing is bigger than 6". I'm dropping everything into the field below.

Other than normal amber precautions and experience there any red light reason not to take it?

I worked as a climbing instructor for 10 years so am comfortable at height but wouldn't be on ropes anyhow.

If you think it's a green light what should I charge?

Thanks.

Chris

It's not a lawful use of the telehandler under LOLER unless the machine fully qualifies as a MEWP because it is preplanned work

Thought if it was a proper cage & not a bucket it was OK? The one I go up in sometimes has the drop down legs at the front, I wouldn't use it without them!

Following post intently now for more info :-)

The link to the advice was in this thread

read also AA Paul's comments after mine

and BTW I do have a certificate for CS47

There have been a couple of prosecutions recently from people falling from telehandlers one was with a man cage and the chap wasn't clipped in the other was when the pallet he was standing on slipped off the forks.

Now I know and trusted our telehandler driver but with the nosy parker next door taking photos it's not something I'd risk in public view. HSE have successfully prosecuted roofing contractors based on such 3rd party evidence.
