Car dies at idle...

... Any suggestions before I grate my knuckles and start the swearing?

Tis a 2002 Ford Galaxy 2.3 zetec. I'm not sure yet, but it may only be when the engine is warm. Runs fine, but just dies at idle, or if too slow on the gear changes.

Any help appreciated before I (probably) end up taking it to a garage to be checked for fault codes...

Thanks all...

Slightly off topic, having run diesels for the last 20 years I have a hankering to buy a petrol engined something... you got a good feeling when changing the plugs and points, started, ran and responded so much better afterwards.

You will have to get a really old one if you want the satisfaction of changing the points ! :001_smile:

Cheers guys, I am none the wiser (bar a slight hissing noise from around the throttle body, so hopefully just a leaky vacuum hose) so off to the garage tomorrow...

Most Fords have a 'cheat' fault code reader.

On Transits, it's hold the trip clock re-set button in then start the engine...... Might just be worth having a hour googling to save some shillings.

That's how I got rid of the 'service' dash light!
