Sounds like a draft issue, if there are trees or a roof apex in the way of the cross wind across your flue then it will mess up your up draft. You need to have the flue proud of surrounding structures.

You can use built in fans or a decent cowl to increase draft, I use a WindKat cowel, expensive but it does work. The only other thing is if the chimney is big and cold then it may need pre warming to get it to pull - it is a science in itself:001_rolleyes: cold still misty days are the worst!

Mine smokes and sets the smoke alarms off when I open it up and that's using well seasoned beech Man!

Hi, I agree with what Stubby has posted, in addition you might like to check the flue for leaks & also check you have sufficient ventilation to enable the flue to draw as you may be trying to pull a small vacuum in your house:confused1: if you have double glazing and it seals well.

Just for reference our Villager A (14Kw I think) has a 5.5" flue & Im unsure if increasing the flue diameter will neccessarily increase the air flow unless everything else is right - there may also be regulation governing flue diameter. Increasing the height of the flue will help.

When its going full blast, we've had upto 280 degrees C on the canopy so plenty of flow up the flue :001_smile:

American or Canadian stove, 65,000 BTU per hour out put is about 18kw, you would want a room of around 250 cubic meters in volume given average insulation for it to be comfortable. At that output it would use a cubic meter a week.

New product, no UK distribution, not CE tested that I can see so unable to be legally installed.

If you like the idea there are a couple of Scandanavian stoves with a similar facility but a more sensible heat output available in the UK.

Wasn't looking for a large stove just came across this as researching low emission stoves with catalytic filters after reading the issues in London from wood burning. If the emissions are to be believed it's incredibly clean burning.
