Had a new 550xpg arrive...... Christmas prezzy to me.

Haven't ran her in let alone cut yet. But thinking about the world of porting and polish. I understand the theory etc about it. But having never used a saw that had it done. I'm concerned about real world gains on a 50cc saw especially with the electronic fuel control etc. What are the various pros and pitfalls? Reputable workshops? Cost involved? Looking at running it on Aspen; would this make a difference? Would it really make a big enough difference to warrant the work??

Cheers guys

Well I have a 50cc 346XP ported by spud and its like night and day compared to a standard one . I also have a 560 fettled by Petemate and that also is like a rabid dog ! I think the gains are worth it and also the reliability is improved if anything . The saws run more efficiently . Aspen is the only fuel I use .

What is Spud's user name? I may need a consult, cheers

spudulike . Real name is Steve Gum . Knows what he is doing and some . Look at his " spuds tuning and porting " thread .

Have just answered your visitor message! Porting sort of gets under your skin, it isn't for all but most really love the pickup and extra power you get with a ported saw - always makes you smile:thumbup:
