electric splitter for the old man

I want to buy my dad an electric splitter for use at home are they a complete waste of time and no where near the tonne rating or ok, it will be only used for rings about 12 inch diameter and 12 inch long.

Dont go near the screwfix one! My dad baught one, did a few hours work and the pump packed in. Sent him a replacement and it had a broken wheel, they swapped that and he plugged the new one in and didnt work. Got his money back now.

I bought one of those little crappy £200 jobs about 7 years ago I tried to kill it and failed, sold it to one of my guys, its gone through a few owners and its still not dead. In short, they are well worth the money.

They'll do the tonnage ok, the speed (flow) will be very slow, ok for home use though.

Beat me to it, sure you can find some logs for him somewhere.........

 

The mower shop I use has a demo one and it's pretty good on nice stuff - but very very very slow. Possibly ideal in this scenario.

I thought £99.99 for a tonne bag was reasonable, it was pop and Alder after all
