Thanks for the info guys!

I took the cover off and had a look at the mechanism. Was relieved to find it was all tight and in good condition so put a drop of WD40 on the pivoting points to free everything up. Then blew that out with compressed air so I could put a drop of 3 in 1 on the joints. It's worked fantastically well so I'll go with it for now. Will consider disassembling and greasing if the problem returns.

Just need to sort the clutch drum/bearing problem and we're back in business!

Cheers guys!

Isn't that the point? For it not to seize...

Makes sense as I'd imagine sawdust sticks to lubricating grease more than it does copper... Maybe I've too many chrimbo Jd's in me? :-)

Makes sense . That's why I don't grease nose sprockets any more . Not had one fail since I stopped .

Has anyone had the same problem with other stihl saws?

Never on either 361, 200t does sometimes. All a good few years old but my 2 month old 461 has just started doing it. Build quality just ain't what it used to be

Don't think its build quality . More design . You can keep on making a real nice job of getting it wrong in the design department . :001_smile:

True if you like husqvarna ;-) it's just the newer stihls seem more 'plasticky' & don't seem as robust? Maybe I'm just treating them harder!
