Ivecos are nice. I used film faced ply, the stuff they use on trailer floors, sometimes called phenolic ply. About £30 a sheet, but not lightweight really.

Any 3.5 tonne tipper with chip on it is going to be overweight when loaded, so I wouldnt lose too much sleep over it.

So.... does that mean you can load up to 7t where ever the weight is - load on the truck or trailer? so could you in theory could you whack 3t's on the back of the truck?

 

 

just aswell you posted this thread mate, that could of been a nasty situation to of got into, either on a big steep hill with no clutch on the way up and no brakes on the way down, or if mr vosa had stopped you.

A quick breakdown on vehicle weights

 

Axle weight is the maximum weight an individual axle is allowed to bear.

 

Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW or Maximum Authorised Mass MAM) is the maximum a vehicle and it’s load can weigh.

 

The Gross Train Weight is the maximum the vehicle and its load and trailer can weigh.

 

A couple of points to be aware of, the nose weight of the chipper counts as payload so allow for it and crew cab vehicles have their main load area much further back on the chassis than single cab’s which makes it a lot easier to overload the rear axle. It’s possible to be under the MAM but have the rear axle overloaded. Have a look at your vehicle plate for weights.
