I've done a fair bit of work for my local diocess now. grass cutting, clearance and tree work they've paid every time at the end of the month and it's got my name out there. I don't brag about it but I will mention it in passing if someone asks me how business is going etc.

 

They are (at least to me) great understanding customers, that have recommended me to all their associated groups and clubs etc I've got loads of work from them and they also offered me a free advert in their parish magazine.

 

Do a great job at a sensible price and it will pay dividends! They network/gossip like no one else on the planet!

Is working for a church a thing to boast about in the landscaping world in your opinions ? Been told many different things !!

 

Only if you have a Stihl MS666 or Husky 666xpg (extremely heated handle version).

It really doesn't matter if you help out at the church or not.It is doing the right thing or the good thing that matters.

Id agree with that, round here especially all the auld women like to tell the neighbour's that they've got the same gardener as the bishop and they won't complain in case I don't come back.... as for the diocese I deal with one person out of a commuter and no-one else, but that's a general rule for any comitees anyway....

We do lots of work for community councils and that involves church yard grass cutting ever year for the last its gained me more work from word of mouth but very small community here so news good and bad travels fast

nowadays churches etc are run like a business, just treat them like any other commercial contract. I maintain a large manse garden, can be a pain working with committees but always get paid in the end.

Well my price is in we shall see. In other news had a offer of renewal of a parish council grass cutting from last year with some very un workable terms and conditions shame looks like we have lost that one
