As long as you keep the chain out the dirt full chisel will cut faster.

As before_ 21LPX for both hard and softwood, (BPX for grubby stuff). But you have to keep it sharp. When the chain dulls, you sharpen it before becoming utterly blunt. Dull chains barely cut, blunt chains don't cut and a sharp chain is a joy to use. Just a touch up now and then is quicker than a full sharpen once in a blue moon.

I recently bought a sugi pro light bar for my 550XP. I'm currently still using the standard 325 semi chisel chain. I'm cutting a variety of wood and using it for different things. Hard/soft wood, fire wood, small felling, limbing etc. can anyone recommend a chain that would suit that bar and saw set up the best? Cheers

Provided your bar is .058 (1.5 mm), Oregon 21LPX or Stihl 25RS (chisel chain).

 

I prefer LPX over RS by a slight margin.

 

If you some times cut "dirty" wood, keep some BPX or RM (semi-chisel) as backup.
