Stubby I’m genuinely shocked that we have people on here equating the actions of the RAF crews of Bomber command with HAMAS and Nazi war criminals. It’s the unbelievably entitled behaviour of a generation that has not served and only knows peace. ****************ing disgusting attitude towards lads  who gave up their lives then, so those self same pretentious pricks can voice such opinions freely today. Wankers no other word.

You're conflating the crews that flew the bombers with the commanders than designed the operations. The crews were not party to the level of civilian death they were responsible for. Bomber command (as in, the commanders) intended to kill maximal numbers of civilians and destroy maximal amounts of civilian infrastructure.

I am not saying that this style of operation wasn't done by the Nazis too (although it was on a lesser scale - I don't think that's the most important issue - intent is intent), and that it's equally morally reprehensible. What I'm saying is that people in Britain have a habit of looking backwards with rose tinted, holier than thou glasses, whereas the truth is much less pleasant.

I remember mu Uncle Bob ( one of my Mums two brother ) having to go periodically  into hospital to have fragments of shrapnel that eventually came to the surface , removed . He died in the end , as we all will .

Well J we are gonna have to disagree on this one. The actions of this country compared to the nation that started the war are light years apart. If bombing Desden saved the life of one allied servicemen it was worth it. You are looking at it with the luxury of hindsight and through your own very left wing socialist glasses.
End of day you are yet to give us the alternative methodology you would have used.
I honestly don’t think it’s me conflating things here J.

Fortunately your opinion is worth Jack shit

1 of those guys who fought for your freedom are worth a thousand of the likes of yourself. Absolutely clueless. This is a serious question have you ever been under fire, in a life or death your or him situation or been on active service??

No, thankfully I have never been under fire, in a life or death your or him situation or been on active service.

I've not once questioned the honour, bravery or sacrifice of the service men who gave their lives for us to have our freedom from Nazi domination. I don't think anyone on here has actually, people have merely been trying to highlight the tragedy and needlessness of innocent, non-combatant lives being lost. Not sure how it's happened but you've got your wires crossed somehow. The responsibility for any crimes or atrocities committed lies squarely with those at the top of the command structure, as is normally the case.

Anyway, that all happened 80 years ago, I'm more concerned by what's happening in front of the eyes of the world right now.  WW2 and the Gazan conflict can't really be equated, but we should've learnt from history not to repeat the same mistakes and crimes.

A serious question for you now if I may. Do you make any distinction between members of Hamas and the general Palestinian people? Or conversely, the Zionists and the rest of the Israeli people?
