I have a home-build loader, bought from a farm where they used it to stack strawbales, it started life as a dumper truck and now has lifting forks and a lifting arm instead of a bucket. It's got a Lister diesel producing a massive 8.2 horsepower and 4 wheel drive. It's articulated so turns on a sixpence and despite the low power it will go anywhere, slowly.

If you have the time you can easily make one for yourself for less than £1k.

i think going for a telehandler might be the best bet

V.good if got a lot of space, weve got a JCB loadall, but remember there not very maneouvreable - but can lift alot, also will churn your ground up, unless your lucky and got lots of concrete. They all have their pros and cons. Big bobcat with good attachments is what where looking out for as another yard machine, as forklifts need concrete unless paying alot for rough terrain ones. tractor and loaders are not very manouvreable and also if youve got to keep taking tractor off machine to move bags you soon get fed up of this. Unfortunately in this game - as alot of people find out when you want to do this in a big way or fultime you need alot of big machines, tractors, loaders and then its a bigger splitta or a faster processor or a better truck - when will these men be happy with what theyve got -

signed a disgruntled wife who wishes her man would spend as much on her as his bloody county!!!

sorry to take it out on this thread - but sometimes I feel like I logbarons secondbest - his real wife is his tractor!

sorry to go off topic but does any one have any rough prices for the japa log deck?? cant seem to find any prices.

seem to remember we paid about 3-500 quid for ours few years back (from fuelwood) and at the time, the lads thought they would make one themselves - but then him indoors thought about it and after thinking it was just another project to get round to bought one, it was the best thing we had - load it with crane a good load on then just pull off onto the processor with hook. then we updated to a hydraulic feed japa - even better.:thumbup1:
