Hi help needed please

I have a new Stihl MS661which I used today for the first time. It was use in an Alaskan Mill (another first)

But after milling around 50' of timber the chainsaw dies when I squeeze the trigger (no power) It starts ok and ticks over.

Filters look clean.

Could anyone tell me what I should check next.

Thanks

Ed

Is it still on the mill?

Could possibly be jam packed with fine sawdust around clutch?

Chain may have shrunk on cooling/ running chain too tight?

Try revving it without bar on.

If none of the above return to dealer 👍

Probably the second jet blocked, try pulling the trigger slowly, if it gets to half way/full then dies it's the second jet, the first jet is smaller which injects fuel for the lower half of the rev range and the second yet (because it kicks in after the first yet) injects fuel for the top end of the rev range, this isn't really a bad design fault, it just means there was a bit of dust in the fuel which has blocked it, I'd clean out all your jerry cans

That's the decider then. Another Husky 395xp for me.

Too many bad experiences with Stihl products and even worse experience with their after sales policies.

I'm interested to hear about your other bad experiences - always enjoy reading stuff like that, for some reason (bid dark, maybe, but - shrug). Certain models from all brands of everything seem to come up again and again. Been reasonably lucky myself, but then I do read all - literally all - the negative reports...
