What do you guys favour as your mode of transport and why?

I brought a hilux due to its reputation last year. (3.0 auto)

I wanted a work vehicle that doubles as a family car.

Tools and smelly stuff separate.

Ability to tow, meaning 4x4 necessary (4-5months of snow and ice here=4x4 if heavy towing)

One thing to consider is if going from a van to a 4x4, is the lack of space you're going to have.

I'm a ranger man myself but it always baffles me hearing/reading that hilux's are over priced in comparison to the others yet they people real off a hundred and one problems with with rangers navaras and l200s... Surely if they're that horrific and the hilux is that solid it's not over priced it's priced accordingly... 🤔🤔

Problem is that L200's etc have a bigger percentage of sales so you will hear more bad reports.

That's not an unreasonable point on the face of it but lets be honest they've been making the Hilux for long enough and there are sufficient numbers sold for any inherent problems to be common knowledge.

I have a 2015 hilux 3.0 invincible and it's a pile compared to the older variant. It's build is shocking, clutch is lame and permanent slippage in 4h in low gears, only has 5 speed gearbox so quite juicy, paintwork- well looking at causes a scratch. Off road it's been stuck more time in a year than I've ever been in previous 4x4's Nissan terrano 2 l200 and navara. For the money don't think any of the newer are up to the job it all comes down to preference and budget.
