    Mast

Although anecdotaly the hot summer thing may appear to be linked, from observation I think the fruit and nuts set before the hot summer. Also I think from something I read recently the mast year often applies across Europe and species.

    Mast

Interesting. That theory does ring a bell. I believe predated animal species employ similar tactics. But the mast years for trees are triggered by hot dry summers right? Not sure that I could ever intersperse a reply into the original text.

As coincidence would have it, that VALID tree risk bloke posted something I think related on faceboook this morning. I think he's on here. @Acer ventura Are these things linked? Talk down a bit please. I don't know much about tree biology.
  19. Join the club. My mates all have a similar look and nod for, "I'm pretending to follow but what in the tangential fck are you on about Purser?"
  20. Mick Dempsey "The Herod of Charente"
  21. As above, flush it out and disassemble as much as possible. Then run the saw with diesel as bar oil for a while. When you know that diesel has been pulled onto the bar, leave the saw and restart it a few hours later. This has solved many oiling issues for me.
  22. Very good! Passed right over my head. It’s like a game of Only Connect on here sometimes.
  23. The joke is Mick's trying to kill boys by giving them second hand zigzags. I'm apparently desperate for Petzl to sue me. What's the death toll for the EJECT up to?
  24. Did you count the rings or something?
  25. 350 million years old fossilised wood how cool is that is super heavy
