Hmm.. the twists and turns in threads on this site never cease to entertain me.. Sime, is it feasible we might accommodate a brief foray on ' best Squirrel recipes ' here ? I understand there's a Butchers up in Darwin, that sells Squirrel pies. Never had the chance to try one, personally tho.

We were given this by the previous owner of our new section of woodland. He'd bought it new but seems to have lost the bar, chain, strap and instructions but these will be easy to replace. Guessing if you're buying that you know something about these units, it's obviously the bare unit with no battery or charger included. It's literally never been used, as proved by the clean and empty oil tank. I can provide some proof to show the provenance and that it's not pinched. The box has seen better days but the unit itself is in perfect new condition. These are well over £500 new, but I realise you've got to source the bar/chain/strap and there's no warranty etc. How does £300 sound? Although it was a very generous gift there's no point in us keeping it, it's more of a gardening tool rather than forestry, we've already got 'proper' chainsaws and don't want to invest in the AR or AP battery system for a tool we'd hardly ever use (and all my power tools are Makita!) but this will be perfect for someone who's already running kit on those systems and wants to prune apple trees for Mrs Muggins. Collection from near Salisbury in Wiltshire, or we can presumably arrange some form of overly expensive shipping. Message on here to start with. Thanks£300

Good thanks. I'll message you at some point so not everyone gets to enjoy our chat.

I've also got these listed on ebay so feel free to buy them there. Basically almost new pair of Meindl Airstream GTX chainsaw boots we were given by the previous owner of our new section of woodland, but not the right size for me or my brother! He apparently wore them twice, there's some very light scuffing on the heels and toes (which looks worse in the photos than it actually is) and a tiny amount of mud on the soles. Apart from that and the fact that there's no box, you wouldn't know they weren't brand new. These are around £300 new, I'm happy to take £200 including UK mainland shipping. Or you can collect from near Salisbury in Wiltshire. Message on here to start with. Thanks£200

A flat wound that size ain't healing anyway. Either leave it as is or cut it in a way to harbour insects etc to give them somewhere to live. Flat tidy cuts are irreluvant when the thing will never occluded.

Robocop. Rare example of a remake living up to the original(s).

Fewer squirrels here at the moment but there were more babies earlier in the year than usual... no longer here (not guilty by the way). We did have one for dinner once - it was in the supermarket on holiday and we thought why not, next to pigeon (had that too) - not my taste for either though. Apples - quite a glut this year for me, I am expecting a reduced crop next year in the natural order of things so this winter will be a heavy pruning year.

I wish. Plenty too many of the little shits round here still. Maybe someone should investigate Squirrel liver salad, or paté.

🤣😂🤣 hi Mark yeah just can’t help myself , how’s things

No credit here I'm abashed to to say. Gressingham duck, so about as unwild as it gets! The only butchery required was opening the packet and then dicing it up. I'm with you on Gizzards. Salade de gésiers is a cracking dish.

All this talk of bumper crops, well my cherry was shite this year. I think it had 5 or so small ones. Loads of acorns everywhere, but hardly seen any squirrels. Has the heat killed them off?
-
Wild duck? All credit to someone who takes time to take offal out of wild animal. Liver is so under-rated, as is heart and don't get me started on chicken gizzards!!

I realised you must have been collecting stuff for quite a few years when I saw your place, but I hadn't realised you'd been collecting that long Mark!

It has been a bumper year because the weather was fine during the pollination period in spring so the wind and insects had plenty of opportunity to get things fertilised ...opposite happens in wet cold springs !!
