Bowline on a Bight in Arboriculture
Uses: The Bowline on a Bight shares all the traits of its parent knot but is able to be tied mid-line. This offers up all sorts of opportunities in rigging, climbing, and general-purpose knot tying.
Whilst it may look complicated to tie in the images at first glance, it is actually pretty simple once you take time to learn it.
Pros and Cons: Extreme care should be taken with this knot to ensure you apply your hardware to the correct loop. Due to the manner that is it tied in, it actually creates an additional loop not found in a standard Bowline. Whilst tying into this loop won't necessarily result in failure, it will cause the knot to cinch up incredibly tight, possibly leaving you with a redundant piece of rope.
