Which Portek electric chain sharpner?

Hiya!

I have decided to buy an electric chain sharpner, not everyone's cup of tea but I have alot of "old" chains that could potentially be resurrected! I only use small saws, an echo cs280wes, ms260 and possibly a 361(in the future). Which Portek would be best for me? Also which colour/type of disc should I use in it for my saws?

Hi Timon yes genset Steve had one and others on here thanks Jon

Hi Jon. Thanks mate, someone gave us one free, haven't set it up yet but we've got loads of old chains that need doing. I prefer hand sharpening now that I've really got the hang of it.

Someone donated us a german electric chain sharpener by a company called FloraBest... I think they were on sale in Aldi...

Has anyone heard of/used one?

That's the Lidl one same as mine, bright green in colour ? I've been using mine for a while with no problems but don't get greedy or you'll soon have no teeth left. You only need to touch the front edge of the tooth and don't go too deep into the gully.

Thanks for this.. Yes it sounds like the same one (bright green) Is there a guide that stops the grinding wheel from taking too much off?

Thanks

There's a stop screw on the top of the machine that adjusts to stop the cutter from coming down too far. Mine has a red screw top and locking nut. This video shows it but he doesn't mention adjusting it. You set the chain movement with the hinge piece that stops it moving too far then clamp it so you get all the teeth the same length.
