How did you have your Defender Chip box?

Looking for some input in regards to the design of the chipbox.

Think i have all the truck cab parts sorted to turn my hardtop into a single cab but im going to have the buck made professionally out of aluminium.

Did any of you who DIDNT have a tool locker installed regret it? did you go for a tool locker as part of the buck or a separate unit?

Thinking about having a simple square back with high barn doors that can be locked, flat roof for the ladder rack.

Really looking for input from those who have had one made and weather they would change anything?

This truck will be a second works vehicle so not used for the day to day stuff

My first didn't have a tool locker but all subsequent ones have had lockers. I would always from now on go for lockers. However, you have said this will be a second truck. Does that mean you will always be out with the other truck and does that have lockers? If this truck is purely chip/logs only then a locker is a waste of valuable space and weight

This is the issue, my other truck is a transit with plenty of tool storage, the 110 has been my daily drive / quotemobile for the last year but i fancied converting to make it more usefull for work.

Small jobs will be done in the landie as and when needed. I was thinking of a small locker maybe 18" square running the width of the buck? Cab will have roof rack with large lock box on that and fuel storage.

should be enough room for everything?

I,d go for a tool box that was the length of the tipper bed 2ft deep and 1ft high . Good for fuel , hedge cutters and most saws . Go for more storage now as you will probably need it when the conversion is done . A good Brownchurch roof rack on a landy makes an ace place for another storage box . Also good for hedge work / mobile platform the roof rack that is

Thats bang on hodge, love the idea of having the bench with vice also, looks a really good setup. Any chance if you get a second to give me some rough dimensions? I assume its just on the one side?

I am just about to change the body on my 130 and I got a good bit of advise make the locker big enuf to take a backpack blower just a thought

Yep, I have a BR400, good point.

I think the best thing would be to get all items that could potentially be stored in the locker and measure them up. The buck will cost a fair amount of money so i dont want miss anything silly and regret it.
