Yeah petzl swivel is the way to go. You can use the swiveling hole for the main anchor and the other for a secondary as long as you use a small enough krab like the petzl OK.

 

As for the ring, its a rated part, probably as strong as some of your karbs, certainly as strong as a ring on a friction saver and way stronger than most friction hitch cord!!

i trust the ring, but dislike the metal on metal, not for safety reasons, more that it just annoys me.......i clip the krab straight on to the rope, it means the rope sits side by side on the hitch climber rather than behind, and also brings the system closer in taking more slack out of the system. all in all the ring seems kinda pointless to me.
