Depending on your desired use? Do u want to make and edit quality takedown video? If so buy sony/gopro/etc also make sure you have a decent Mac to edit the video. (windows is **** but not let's not get into that).

If your just after capturing some random moments or more for political /dangerous trees then maybe something from Asia to just make fun clips. There are some quite worthy models if you know what not to buy!

I can tell you that were you want to mount the camera is a big factor on what you should buy. I recently bought a Sony hdr-as15 as they came down in price after the release of the Hdr-as30v (Sony have such catchy names for their kit). As I cycle commute and wanted something to mount on the lid. Sony offer very few side mount options and I opted for the velcro/cable tie attachment method as it was difficult and didn't want to mount on my forehead like some gimp!

Go pro offer the best diversity in mount options but the camera (face on) is quite cumbersome.

If you want to see some British comparison of all the many mad Asia-cams look for "techmoan" on YouTube.

I can highly recommend the Sony cameras though once you over come where you want to mount it. It's great. I'm pretty sure whatever you choose, an element of creativity will be required to attach to anything worth filming from.

i think in long term i ll benefit more if i get a good sony or go pro.prices are more then i ws hoping to pay but i suppose you get what you pay

Ask anyone on here if they want to sell one!

You don't have to buy the latest model, as the previous one was probably just as good.

I brought a Drift HD from

Action Cameras UK & Ireland - helmet cameras, quadcopter, Drift HD, Contour

and they don't stock GOPRO any more due to warranty issues, basically the things breaking all the time.

The Drift HD is really good, rugged, great viewing angle, waterproof down to 2m, and this all comes in the pack so you don't need to buy all the extras, as you do with the gopro.

I haven't used any other action camera.

Simple answer go pro black edition, which is now cheaper as they have the new plus model out.

I have had mine for at least a year dropped it to many times and never missed a beat, footage it so good check out my Chanel thtrees on YouTube and put it to 1080p.

The other cams are ok but there is a reason all the pros use gopros. I'm buying another the plus model so we have two cam angles
