Saw these 'elephant ear' adaptive growths, on this Beech at a Zoo within Public Access.

The high canopy of these Trees, actually add to & help make the site, providing much needed shade for the Animals & public & excentuating the natural ambience.

The poplulation had been tagged & presumably surveyed, (Inspected?) with quite a few Trees having been reduced, but not this one.

Personally see this as a weak attachment, very prone to failure, and didn't at the time, but will be getting in touch with the Owners to share my concerns.

To be fair, this Tree is sheltered by it's neighbours, but having worked on others, I'm suprised this wasn't added to the job spec.

Anyone seen other examples and offered 'free' advice?
