cs 33 Specialist Tree Felling

Has any one done this module?

I have just pasted it to day with the assesor being assesed.

I've been trying to get on a CS33 course for nearly 2 years now! Back when it was called large tree felling. Do you learn a lot more from CS32 any other cuts that boring out the centre of the hinge to reach around. I do this a lot as i use a short guide bar. Congrats on passing, you must of been good to have a second assessor there.

I passed CS33 when it was large trees when it first came out years ago.

I did large trees in summer 08. Felling some almighty poplars with my little 260 and a 15" bar!

Congrats on passing. I struggled to get an assessment because not many people do it!

No one in cornwall does it- i tried for years to get on a course, but the lack of big trees in any numbers meant the course couldnt happen. There are big trees down here, but not enough to support a course, so i would have to go to Devon. It kinda irrelevant now as I have learnt anyway.....

yea did it a while ago, good craic. did you have to use winches for the hung up section?

When I did the 32, the instructor said that the 33 didnt involve anything more than the 32 and wasnt worth doing considering the difficulty in getting suitable trees. Is that what you found now you've done the 33?

The new cs 33 is all about big trees that are going to fall ware they are not suppose to.

I had a large sika that had a split trunk from the ground up and a heavy lean across an area that I was to avoid.

I had a similar conversation during my 32. The guy said trying to find someone to do the assessment was difficult and trying to find enough CS33 sized trees to practise on was even more difficult.
