I'm new to this forum and growing trees in general and I could do with some advice. I have three fields and I want to become self sufficient for firewood for heating/hotwater/cooking in a woodburner w water jacket and rayburn. I have planted one of the fields with mixed willow and the other half in black locust which I grew from seed from ebay (no idea what variety). I have now become aware that the speed of growth depends on the variety and that there are some even faster growing hybrids out there. I would now like to plant another 2 acres of Black Locust but with e fast growing hybrid. I saw this page that refers to a study of different varieties/hybrids and I am now trying to find the "Tulln 81-62" variety that apparently can only be propagated from suckers. Here is the link to the research: Black locust | waldwissen.net Although thorns are a big issue with these trees, I can't find anything that matches the stats for these trees in terms of energy per square metre per year. Any idea how I might track this hybrid down? Is anybody growing this hybrid over here? Thanks everyone.

Looking in Homebase the other day, came across these "hardwood logs" Funny cause they don't look like hardwood logs. Perhaps the addition of traditional makes it all alright. Trading standards needing a call perhaps? What do you reckon?

I'm after some hardwood, preferably beech, birch, ash, syca, cherry ect in the Glasgow area if anybody has any... Can take a tipper load in the driveway and process myself, anything up to three tonnes would be great. Will take any chippings too. Can offer a small payment and coffee, Thanks in advance, Cris
