  1. Not much chatter here. Any more useful forums around with more going on?
  2. Always found using campsites best. Showers and cooking areas are a must . decent tent and a couple of duvets. Kept the over spill of money to boost wages up from accomodation allowance. Once you get used to the military regime and buy a decent tent it is fine. I have slept in tent on-site but only for a few days as shower is a must for avoiding the "tree cutters trouser scratch." I Think roaming around cuting tree is a good thing but definitely for the youngsters.doubt I would go out of area for work anymore unless it was in the.mountains somewhere amazing.
  3. Would of been easier to just let a shottie up the flue
  4. Well I went up today. Huffed and puffed a bit but managed an hour. I've tried a distal hitch with a pulley before on my strop . My bum hurts but arms seem ok..😬
  5. I think I'll just use ladders rather than throw a rope up thanks
  6. Stopped climbing about 10 years ago. Had nptc in place at the time. Just getting fit again ready for winter ahead. Some of the battery powered top handles look ok too.
  7. Dig it up by hand . Earn extra money and promote eco approach
  8. Lol. Grunt like you mean it and get the job done.
  9. Having done many years I doubt I'll change much . All this equipment to carry around seems a bit excessive really. I'm not interested in rope Access just the basics so I can climb legally. It seems to me that the youngsters are over complicated on the way they cut tree these days . I climb trees and use a rope for security and getting around. Can't see the need for a spiders web set up in a tree from another one next to it just to do a crown reduction .🙃
  10. Ok cool Will probably have to refresher training even tho the job hasn't changed. Running two anchors and using a strop seems like a ball ache and recipe for getting tangled up on a daily basis but hey ho. I'll carry on as I used to then but obviously have 3 ropes out all day 🙄
  11. Hey up I'm I still allowed to climb on a figure of eight and a Blake hitch? Using a strop for second anchor. What are the minimum rope specifications these days please?
