  1. its not the size that matters but the quality and i bet if you removed the tight leggings that would have more waves and ripples than the English Channel on a rough day.
  2. thanks stubby i am looking at both of the lantra courses as i hear there may be a place in towster that runs them .
  3. on what i intend to be doing well i just want to have all of my ducks in a row for the legal side of things . also if i can do the courses i can look at a carrer change later on with a head start if i join a recognised firm . what i meen by head start is a company is more likely to hire a new starter who has gone part of the way .
  4. hi im going to ask the advice of this group what would you say would be the best course for a novice wanting to be a bit more , like small diameter felling say upto 18-20 inch diameter . i know this will proberbly bring up a few awnsers but thanks anyway . oh looking in the northampton area if that will help.
  5. hi not been in any situations of need but i would say when going solo any extra safety precautions are a good thing . I do a lot of solo off roading and 3 main things i always have are . 1, coms so i can let people know where i am. 2, basic first aid kit . 3, a power winch just encase but i have used the winch and first aid more time's on others than my self thank god . so yes never enough safety better having it than not .
  6. aspen 2 or motomix 50:1 which to chose is it just eni meni mini mo or is one better than the other ?
  7. just a thought over this windy time if im driving down the road and get hit by a tree or part of who pays when the local council has told the highways dep. not to cut back growth because of nesting birds . it cant be a act of god then as they haven't maintained them so there is a fault but who's ?
  8. might be a dumb one but have you checked the fuel filter ? as if it idles when you ease it down but dies when you let it off full throttle it may be fuel stavation.
  9. i have a efco mt3700 running a 16in bar as a chuck in the back of the landie saw its not the fastest saw only being about 35cc but its never let me down paired up with my husky 560 running 18in 325 im good as a novice .
  10. i wouldnt trust just house and contents for a work related item so i have always had a sepperate insurance for work related things .

  14. being a newbie to this game i just follow the manual at 50:1 but i will say use a good oil and not one of these supermarket brands . I started on xp oil then went to a cheep brand from my supermarket soon swapped back as the saw smoked more than Dave Allen on a good night on stage .
  15. hi im new to this forum and have what i hope isn't a daft one . But lets say when im out driving the byways and i see a already blown down tree what are the rules on collecting it for fire wood ? thanks in advance .
