  1. Looks like the brown needles are mostly on the inside? Its normal for conifers/evergreens to shed their needles in autumn/fall
  2. Yes its recognised. Once you've completed the level 2 and acquired a certain number of practical tickets (8 from memory) you can apply through the RFS for your certified Arborist certification. Its also worth looking at the ISA, its more popular in America but its gained some traction and is recognised over here. For the ISA you'll need to prove 3 years work experience or 4 years (i think) studying; degree, HND etc
  3. Was speaking to a client last week about purchasing land for a yard. We're currently renting yard space, about an acre, great spot but we're basically paying off someone else's mortgage. He advised he had bought his current business propertys by purchasing them through his pension plan, so he doesn't get pumped by tax when he eventually cashes in. Anyone else gone down this route?
  4. I deeply regret making this post 😂
  5. You have a good day as well buddy 👍
  6. Fair point, well made.
  7. Anyone noticed since lockdown there's a high ratio of knobheads out there? We've walked off a good few jobs due to clients and their neighbours being completely unreasonable, not to mention being spoken to like s*it when we're working in the street.
  8. The spikes that come as standard don't bite well when cross cutting/sectioning in my opinion
  9. Following. Biggest let down on the 500i is the dogs they come with
  10. Yeah, he obviously knows his stuff but he's a bit too much. I really like August Hunicke, minus the bible bashing
  11. They'll probably provide their own saws for you to take apart. You can also submit a drawing in crayons of how you would Fell a tree rather than having to do it 👍
  12. Just in the process of registering for VAT. Anyone notice downturn in accepted quotes? Any advice on what to think about? Cheers.
  13. From the picture it looks like the needles closest to the stem are casting, with the outer needles staying intact? I'd say its casting old needles.
  14. If I was 10 years younger I'd do it myself mate. I'm thinking bringing someone on to do it might cause more headaches than its worth though, just keen to see everyone else's thoughts
  15. Me and business partner are thinking about hiring a body for stump grinding at the weekends. We've long since stopped working sat/sun due to family time etc, so there's 2 days where equipment isn't making money. Does any one on here do/done the same? Problems with staff? (!) Cheers
  16. If you're just getting into Arb work you might want to start with the level 2 ABC, then become a cert. Arb. With the RFS when you have enough tickets together (I think you need 8). I've got my MLS and MLW but there doesn't seem to be a way to combine that I've seen, you'll probably find you're too busy with the tree work anyway. Guiding work is sporadic and poorly paid
