  1. Yeah Stihl gear half price, but 500, 261 and grinder used
  2. Just had a random text from someone asking if we want half price Stihl gear. Hes also got a 500, 261 and stump grinder he's doing "deals on". Selling for a mate etc etc etc
  3. I'd recommend the MS 400, great all round ground saw and light in the tree
  4. How would I check that mate?
  5. Had blockage in our ST6, freed it, now both rollers are running very slow and then stopping, in both directions, feels like they've lost hydraulic pressure but levels are fine. Any ideas?
  6. Bark looks like Hawthorn on the top picture
  7. Maybe get a trial on an avant if you're thinking about buying one.....try different attachments
  8. Aye, you'd be better with a claw attachment. Buckets are fine, but as Mick said you'll end up picking up loads of earth/mud, which will trash your chains
  9. Our yard has no electric, and I'm getting tired of driving to the car wash to hose chipper/grinder down. Has anyone got a decent setup (washer/generator) that works well for them? We've got plenty of IBC's for water storage.
  10. Given how far the bark has been scattered I'd say someone's been picking at it. Doesn't seem to be down to the cambium, no harm done.
  11. Its frustrating when you do this line of work day in day out, and you get hit with a 20 page questionnaire asking for your "modern slavery statement" and other documents.
  12. Someone posted a species a while back in another post, can't remember the name.....one of the quickest growing species, but not native to the UK
  13. As Gareth says, ask your current insurers, they should be able to add equipment insurance onto your current policy. Tipper insurance is cheaper through phoning around
  14. You'll need CS41 for dismantles......
  15. Stupid question, thats not a nail in the tree is it?
  16. I suppose the first 3 walls of Codit have already taken place before the external branch collar compartmentalise?
  17. Why flush cut?
  18. Often think about this.....If we prune trees in the winter during dormancy, CODIT doesn't occur until Spring, so we may as well prune in the spring.....for many trees Spring is a bad time to prune, so wait until the summer before spores are high. Have you got any links you could share?
  19. Been subscribed to this for a while, but going to start tendering for work through the portal in the new year. Anyone else use it? Any tips? Thanks in advance
  20. Thanks mate, I feel honoured 🙏
  21. I think I ate all the cheese Mick
  22. Worth doing your climbing ticket, even if you're not planning on climbing full time as aerial rescue will put you on a good few job sites. As most have said, if you can get your IPAF, hgv, telehandler ticket etc that'll help. You make friends with quite a few folk on job sites, I do weekend work for a MEWP hire company at the weekend that I met through a job. I'm 41 and still climbing full time, but I'm pretty burst by the weekend, maybe got another 4 years max. As someone who came to tree work later in life I'd say go for it, there's nothing stopping you from doing your stump grinding ticket, buying a used 360 and making some extra cash at the weekend.
  23. Where you sending the right people direct messages?
  24. Its a great saw, both on the ground and in the tree
  25. I thought that was Arbtalk 🥴
