  1. No one have installed a brand new one. The new one only has the magnets on one side of the fly wheel unlike the old one which has them on both sides?
  2. I have installed a new flywheel part number 1145 400 1202 and the saw doesn’t start now I have checked the air gap and that’s seems fine. Is there anything else I have missed?? this flywheel is slightly different to my original one. There is only one yellow patch on one side of the flywheel where my original had 2??
  3. Yea that’s what I thought. I would have to bring the hook down and adjust that end which is a pain
  4. I have used poly dead eyes and they are so easy to use. You can adjust them so easily and balance a piece perfectly with no problem Iv not used chains except for logs and that’s just with a hook on the end of the chain so I don’t see how that’s much use trying to balance a limb as each leg most likely needs to be a different size are there chains out there that you can adjust at the end??
  5. What should I do about slings for crane work? one company I work for won’t supply proper slings to balance brash (long dead eye slings) they say the crane driver has all the appropriate slings and they contacted the crane company to confirm this but the slings they provide are non adjustable round slings which makes it very hard to balance large lateral limbs the tree company seems to think it is the responsibility of the crane company to provide slings but I have never seen a crane company provide tree rigging slings what would everyone do?? im not going to buy some myself but I don’t want to do any crane work without the correct slings as brash tipping and spinning is a real danger to me the guy actually doing the crane work
  6. Yes I have reset. After all I replaced some fuel system parts and it has improved masively thanks 4 degrees
  7. Can advancing through timing cause any issues? I have done it on my 2016 201tcm and it hesitates when I go full throttle and is not quite at full power it often gets jammed up as it doesn’t seem to have the torque to clear wood chips when in all the bar length and I can’t push the saw at all if cuts like the chain isn’t quite sharp or the depth gauges are high but I know my sharpening is fine it’s just lacking the power that it used to have I have ordered a new flywheel and I will just go back to normal I think
  8. Iv got the 120 and if I could go back I would have got the lighter one You need to make sure you are putting heavy enough pieces onto it as you can hold up some pretty big limbs and logs on it the problem I have I only get it out for lighter jobs and find the 120 has too much friction. I am sure I am just being too cautious and I could be loading it with much heavier pieces but I am a little anxious not to send my groundy flying It comes into its own when you as a climber need to take over the friction and free the groundy up so in a 2 man team and I have also used it as a control for a controlled speedline where we were sending limbs over a garden to a field as there was 0 drop zone and the base of the tree and no access so we didn’t need a groundsmen at the base of the tree to lower the piece down the speedline. I did that task from the tree I am sure I would replace it if it ever wears out but with the 70kg as it is VERY handy SOME of the time
  9. Echo 2511 tes for pruning and anything that’s not a takedown stihl 201 tcm with a 14 inch bar for takedowns stihl 500i for all the bigger wood in a takedown 20 and 28 inch bar
  10. Ok so maybe any running problems I have will be down to the solenoid which I thought wouldn’t need replacing yet but now I realise I have the inferior filter maybe I will need to get a new solenoid
  11. Ok! So I have a white one on my saw now does this mean my saw would benefit from the upgrade kit??
  12. Also I ordered a filter which wasn’t orange but it was for a 201. if the orange filter a better one than what I have ordered?
  13. I was under the impression the upgrade kit was for older versions of the 201. I bought my 201tcm in probably 2018? So I thought I wouldn’t need the upgrade kit as these later saws had the kit fitted as standard ?
  14. Tbh if I could go back I wouldn’t have bought the 28 and I would have just got a 30
  15. I have just the one ground saw and from how it cuts with a 28 I think a 32 would be the max it would run. I don’t think it will run a 36 all that well. The 500 bridges a big gap. I have a 20 inch and 28 inch and I do cut wood bigger than 28 reasonably often to warrant another bar This also! I can and why not? This has made me think about a 36 instead of a 32 though
  16. I have a 28inch with full comp and I will also be getting a 32 will skip chain
  17. Thanks for the reply’s. im going to replace the can’t vent and also a new fuel filter. The saw seems to be running rich is anything. Occasionally hesitates as I go full throttle and take some blips of the trigger to get the revs up and the spark plug looks carbon fouled so I will do the vent and filter and see if there is any difference. also putting a new spark plug in
  18. It was coming out of the bottom of this part I just lifted this part up and some fuel dribbled out i don’t want to force the piece out but seems abit tricky to get it fully out
  19. Hi thanks. I have got in there and the fuel was definitely coming from the breather 100% I tried pulling the breather out and pushed it back in maybe it will be ok will a leaking tank breather have any effect on the saws performance? should I just replace it anyway?
  20. I have a stihl 201tc and today noticed a small leak of fuel coming from the tank breather just under the air filter cover. should I replace the tank breather ? I have read they shouldn’t leak fuel? This is where the fuel was leaking from and when I had the saw hung on my harness it was worse I had a look at the saw in this orientation and could see fuel coming out of what I now know is the tank vent any help? Thanks
  21. My employer runs training courses alongside his tree care business and has asked me if I would like to provide the training as the usual instructor has stopped. I work as a full time climber and have worked for 7 years He has asked me to do tree access and aerial rescue CS38 Do I need to be qualified as an instructor? How does the insurance work if there is an accident? How much do instructors charge per day? Who should provide the trainees climbing kits? Any information welcome! Thanks
