  1. I have my opinions but don’t have the time to back them up via this platform so will refrain. What I will say though is that any of the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century would have loved to have 21st century tech.
  2. If you have an iPhone got to settings and then privacy and then scrolled the bottom and go into analytics and advertising. Turn off the ones in the screen shots. They do listen and then advertise to you. They will still listen no doubt but you won’t get the adverts. We are already in 1984 and they have even got us wanting all these fancy new gadgets I think we all just don’t want to believe how far it’s got/ where it’s going. Just keep on, keeping on.
  3. Lol, same, I am not sure of my exact exact height of perceived safety but regardless of what the terrain is like underneath, below it I will swing and jump on ageing kit without a care in the world, one foot above it and all of a sudden everything becomes thin, warn, tatty and untrustworthy! [emoji23]
  4. Is this 100% for real?
  5. I have been following this tread with interest. What are people’s thoughts on the worth (£££) of arb arisings delivered in per ton then? Not biomass quality (conifer, Willow, pop, etc) but firewood quality (decent hardwood) ?
  6. Maybe that should read “money is not the whole answer”
  7. I don’t think money is the answer. I am not drawing too many similarities between rats and people with substance problems but who has heard of the rat park experiment? Just because someone has material wealth does not mean they are not poor or needy. And just because someone is not physically damaged in some way does not mean they are not hurting.
  8. Well, I am sorry to hear that.
  9. To me your first summarisation seemed to be a mostly accurate representation of Timon’s thoughts (not sure Timon mentioned food banks though?) but your second comment, in my opinion, went far further than Timon had by making hyperbolic suggestions of how that may play itself out. He was only sharing his considered thoughts. What are your ideas?
  10. Such a great idea. [emoji106]
  11. If it’s thinning’s, could it be Walnut before the heartwood develops?
  12. It sounds to me like there are a lot of people on here that are threatened by Rough Hewn charging £150 a day to ground. If he can get it then good for him! Why all the moaning about it?
  13. I wonder if that was the second of the day?
  14. I wonder how much the council were paying them to do that? ?
  15. Divide and conquer. [emoji6]
  16. All true but the reality of the industry is that there are a lot of low or mid skilled operatives who don’t really give a crap if you pay them £100 a day on the books when they could get £120 self employed and put everything through as expenses. So option one is a lower skilled worker who costs you more money on the books who takes home less themselves or the same worker who takes home more at the end of it all who costs you considerably less as well. Not to mention that you could pay a bit more when the need arises and get in someone who really knows their job. Oh and have a lot less hassle. I don’t see it changing any time soon, legal or not.
  17. You can lay somebody off legitimately if paying them the sick pay would ruin the business. If it’s one person without a job as opposed to multiple people plus said person anyway.
  18. I don’t think anything can be done. There are a lot of people who don’t want to accept that, most of the time, to make good money you have to apply yourself, work hard, and in most cases, for a long time. It’s too convenient to blame the fact that they don’t earn well on those that do and have grafted for it. If they were to accept the cold facts they would have to look at their life choices and that can be sobering. Easier to blame the boss and not have to bother with all that difficult fact based stuff.
