    I have the static Courant squire v2 and that’s a lovely rope for both srt and ddrt (when needed). Mines 60m as I think you need it for base anchors on some trees, I use a zigzag and it runs well although I’m getting a bit of slippage now as the rope is pretty thin-meant to be 11.5mm I think but definitely feels thinner.

    +1 for the rc2001-I’ve had mine for a couple of years and it’s been great, as said above once it’s set on the stem it’s pretty foolproof, and it’s much easier to get the line tight than on a capstone. If you find yourself looking at a job that requires bigger kit, get someone in who has a Hobbs etc and give it a try, but the 2001 with a 12/14mm line will see you right for a lot more work than you may think. Any rope/kit will be put under excess force if you’ve got someone on the ground who doesn’t know how to let it run, or at least dissipate the shock load. You’d be able to do a bigger job with your setup and a competent groundy than having chunkier kit and someone who doesn’t know how to use it

    I wonder….it’s as if the Tory’s could solve all the funding problems with privatisation…. To the person (didn’t catch your name) making comments about how we value nurses too highly, how they “stand around” waiting for their shift to end etc- I hope your appreciation of the system is open to change! If it was such an easy job people would que up to be a nurse, and that’s not exactly happening is it? Imagine a system like America, and how frightening that would be for some people in this current financial climate, who can’t afford to heat their house let alone pay for medical care. If things don’t change that’s where we are headed

    A lump sum like that as you said would definitely be better than a percentage pay rise, like you said it would make little difference to the parasites at the top, but the people earning 20/40k would notice a huge difference.

    Absolutely, unless you’re in finance you’ve basically been taking a pay cut for the last 10 years! If the government would engage in negotiations with the RCN, they would probably have reached an agreement by now……🤔

    Band 5 is probably the most “common” nursing banding, most of your ward staff etc are 5’s-are you really telling me they would stay working in an industry that pays everyone below you more, but you don’t make the cut because everyone thinks you earn “enough”? I’m not for a second saying the management on 100k salary’s desperately need a rise-on that note the RCN have said they would agree to 10% not 19%- but if you continue to loose staff at the rate they are, there won’t be a national health service and it will be a damn sight more expensive if it’s private

    They absolutely deserve a pay rise. Look at the amount of newly qualified nurses, midwife’s etc compared to the numbers leaving the profession (retirement, change of career etc). The wage increase they are asking for sounds incredibly high, but in real terms their pay hasn’t kept up with inflation for years. Top of band 5 (most staff nurses) is around £31k-compare what they have to do for that money compared to many other jobs that have a similar/higher salary, it’s pretty insulting.

    I haven’t got Facebook unfortunately, but I’ve checked it through family members and it’s hard to find one that doesn’t look crazy dodgy😂 in an ideal world I’d rather do the tipper conversion myself (save a bit of money and get exactly what I want) but if a ready made one came along for the right price that would be ideal

    I’m looking for an Extra cab Toyota Hilux (the ones with 4 seats but only 2 doors) age isn’t so important but budget is around 10k-saw a nice tipper one on here recently but it got snapped up. Just wondering if there are any out there for sale? Hope this post is ok/in correct place👍

    I use the ART positioner with the swivel, Really good bit of kit. I did have a Petzl Zillon for a previous employer, which was nicer to use in terms of modulation but the lack of swivel was a pain. I’ve used them both as a short climbing line and worked ok, don’t know about the rating for this though. AFAIK I don’t think there is an option to use them clipped to themselves-if this is a deal breaker you may be best sticking with the pinto and changing up the hitch cord to keep it smooth?

    I’ve always found it to be pretty bouncy over a long distance to be honest, single or double rope. I’ve got a 40m length I use that’s probably 2 years old but has seen very little use until recently, and definitely notice the same

    That’s why I’m keen to try it again, before I often found the RW added too much friction, and made limb walks etc more of a faff. Might get some 10mm cord at the same time and have a play, I used to use 8mm cord when I had a vt on my main line which worked amazingly well in the dry but bound very tight when it got wet

    Good call. I’ll get myself a few samples ordered, Beeline was recommended by a friend too so will definitely give that a try. Climbing on a hitch, I haven’t used any other setups than a VT, do any of the other knots work better in a single rope setup?

    After using the zigzag with chicane for a few years, I fancy going back to a hitch cord to see if the chicane is any better than the rope wrench for a VT. I’ve always preferred rope-on-rope but the efficiency of a zigzag is a massive plus. Question is, having not used a VT for at least 3 years, what diameter cord would be best with my Courant Squire v2 11.2mm rope, and what length eye2eye is next for a hitch with a wrench? Cheers!

    If you know any climbers near you or any decent company’s, maybe ask them if they’d be happy to spend a day or a few hours on a weekend pointing out the basics. It’s all well and good learning from YouTube but it’s a good idea to get a good handle on the basic principles before jumping too far in. Also will give you a chance to try their kit before buying your own👍

    As the title suggests, is this something that can be done? I’m looking at getting a mk6 hilux as a tipper conversion, and noticed the max overall weight of the truck is fairly low. I know you can uprate newer trucks to 3.5t, but I wasn’t sure about the older ones (for ref the mk6 is approx 2010 age) Anyone out there in the know?

    I would argue the care system does more harm than good. Surely the best way to break the cycle is to educate and offer opportunities to those effected, not punish their children who only know the lifestyle they’ve been raised in? Look at our prison system-punishment often does nothing to deter people from poor actions, education & rehabilitation however does

    I really don’t understand why people are against the free school meals…… I appreciate that some of the parents and their benefit claims are “questionable” but that does not mean their child should suffer? At the end of the day it means a hungry child gets fed. Take any politics, “parents should know better” out of the equation, it is literally that simple. And punishing a child because their parents don’t/can’t provide for them is very cruel.

    In reference to that, I have been told that both ends of you climbing lines must be able to reach the floor, so your lanyard wouldn’t be appropriate?

    @AA Teccie (Paul) Thanks for being so open and replying to everyone👍 Do you think that the AA will ever be open to a re working of the 2 rope working method, and in doing so this would help towards making it non compulsory (at least in the eyes of the HSE)? It just seems to be so widely disregarded, surely it would be good to have a middle ground that the majority of staff would actually stick to?
