  1. I am a wood Turner in my spare moments [emoji4]
  2. So why does this happen? Can any one with some theory between there ears enlighten me?!
  3. Oops sorry I took a closer look at first picture now...it appears you don't have to [emoji15]
  4. @josharb87 U have to take your trailer off to get your tools out??
  5. Are dead elms ok to climb? Brittle? Or really solid?! They aren't huge, about 300 to 400mm across the bottom. Just quite close to a road so they can't be felled....
  6. It's expensive, but it's a lot better on your tools and your health. Because it is hugley cleaner than standard unleaded. It's ready mixed too, so perfect mix everytime and quick decanting into combi can. I do a lot of fencing as well as trees, so my range of two stroke tools aren't being run necessarily every day...I can leave the fuel in a hedge trimmer and pick it up a fortnight (or longer) later and it starts first time. Most of the time the cost isn't an issue...it's only with a big saw and logging big stems all day you would find it expensive...just factor in a little extra onto your charges to cover it. Go for it is my advice.
  7. So I've found the issue! A torsion bar indeed, that has snapped...going to need a crane or something to lift the cab off the engine, or jack up cab with four jacks or similar..so I can replace the broken part.
  8. I'm guessing that in the housing there must be some kind of spring...
  9. Thanks guys so far. Very helpful. I've taken the front grill off, and there is indeed a bar. Both sides seem to be weeping oil though. Ill put some pics up in a moment
  10. Where abouts was the spring dig dug dan?
  11. The other day. Before that it was probably a couple of months at the most.
  12. Ok. There is so many to choose from and a huge variety in prices too. 400 ish for a reconditioned one,and then over a grand for a new one. And anything between...
  13. I stand to be corrected, but I've never seen a gas strut on it anywhere! Even when it was working!
  14. I'm not sure if anyone can help on this one... I've got a 2010 Nissan Cabstar tipper, single cab. The cab has always been easy to tilt forwards to get to the engine, simply releasing the catch, and lifting the cab up and over until it locks into place. Until recently that is...! A few days ago I went to lift the cab, to check the oil, etc and it felt like it had a colossal weight in it! Just to be sure, I emptied it right out and tried again - no different. It wasn't sticking either. Two of us could only move the cab upwards a few inches, where before I had been able to do this on my own. So I had to resort to pulling it over with a strap on my ranger. The strain was huge, with the cabstar front suspension pulled right down and the ranger back wheels barely on the ground!! As you cabstar owners will know, when you want to release it to let the cab down, you pull a pin and it kind of more or less smoothly descends and clicks back into place. Not so...it crashed down like a dead weight and I'd be surprised if something wasnt broken underneath. Any light on this? Anyone had this before? I'm wondering if possibly there is a counterweight missing? I plan on giving this a full service this winter, and I'm not looking forward to a cab that's impossible to tip. ?????
  15. Did you use it for landscaping work?
  16. Anyone here using a CAT scanner? What make/model? Pros and cons... Thinking of getting one for fencing and stump grinding purposes. I think my insurance actually requires me to use one! Thanks Dan
  17. Looking for an extra contact or two for helping me out here and there with tree surgery, general hedge trimming and fencing jobs. Self employed basis. Ground based chainsaw tickets be useful. If you can climb as well that's great (with tickets). Casual basis...some weeks multiple days, other weeks single days. Perhaps odd week nothing, although that's probably not happening at the moment. Based near Huntington, Cambs. I've a couple of decent s/e guys at the moment who don't mind fencing as well as trees but they can't give me enough days due to being also booked up with others too. Mainly small scale domestic work. If interested PM me please with your rates and capabilities.
  18. As above... Considering either a predator 38x or 38rx, a bandit zt1844 or a Jo beau b31 110. Predator wins on width, Jo beau wins on depth (only 2inches deeper than predator though) and bandit wins on price. If anyone reading this runs any of these three machines I would greatly appreciate some feedback on here. Thanks in advance.
  19. So how are people pricing stumps?? Really asking those who specifically stump grind with larger or tracked machines, rather than those offering grinding as an extra service with a little pedestrian grinder... Looking at sub contracting with a larger machine... predator 38rx or similar. Do you have a generic price list that other tree surgeons can factor into their quotes, or do you have to go out to every stump and quote?! Could be painful and v. time consuming if operating over large area.
  20. Cool. Sorry guys just seen I posted this in business management... oops!
  21. As above, any one tried these? How do they compare to timberwolf blades? Machine is tw125.
  22. Nice work [emoji106] How about envar recycling at Somersham? Cambs. They are free for woodchip. Couldn't see them on the map.
  23. Cool. And let's say that in the next couple of quarters I buy loads of machinery, which VAT totals more VAT than I bring in...I still get it all back?
  24. Thanks [emoji3] So in the first quarter, what I will collect for them will be far less than what I have paid because I can go back 4 years and claim for tools/machinery that I still have. So my first VAT return would be good news for me??!
