  1. Cleaning up my phone, and found these this morning.
  2. Sweet shed westphalian! I spent 7 seasons back in the late 70's-80's logging Sitka Spruce in Southeast Alaska. Most of these forests had never seen an axe or a saw, so we got into some fairly big wood. That Spruce was some of the most beautiful timber I have ever worked with.
  3. I don't believe that for a minute.
  4. Once you learn to get the Lucas dialed in the quality of the lumber is pretty stunning. Add a slabber attachment and you have a tool thats hard to beat. Have I mentioned that I love the Lucas?
  5. No mention of a Lucas? I have owned quite a few mills, and for what I do the Lucas is tough to be. Relatively affordable. You can set it up anywhere, it will handle any log you are likely to throw at it, and beautiful lumber falls out of this thing like water.
  6. Lazy? Say it ain't so.
  7. Glad your enjoying the pics timbernut.
  8. Laziness.
  9. The truck had a frame-off resto about 2 years ago. It's way to pretty for me to own, and its just a matter of time before I ruin it!
  10. Thanks for the kind words folks. I definitely live a very blessed life, doing what I love to do! 1971 GMC 1 ton 4x4 with a 454 big block.
  11. My 2 most valuable tools are the old 518 long-frame grapple skidder, and the Lucas 10/30. I couldn't live with out either.
  12. Making some shakes out of a beautiful piece of old-growth.
  13. Killing Pines in the Lake Tahoe area. The last one is from the west side of Tahoe where there is still some big timber. Wedging over a 90 ft top at about 90 ft. Sorry for the poor quality
  14. The Bennett Tree. A beautiful Western Juniper up Sonora Pass in the Sierra's
  15. I'm in my mid 50's Steve. I still feel strong, but I ain't the man I used to be! Gone are the days of being in the saddle for 8-10 hours, wreaking multiple big trees, then waking up and doing it again. I am a recent SRT convert (inspired by RegC). I have been running a Hitch Hiker or Rope Wrench, a Haas, and a Powercender on my right gaff, and it has been a real game changer for me. I'm hoping if I take care of myself, and don't do anything too stupid, I might be climbing when I'm 70. I worked for an old-timer when I was coming up who was still wreaking big wood into his mid-70's, so I know its possible.
  16. Who needs a hardhat when your doing stupid stuff like this? A Hap Johnson "coffee break" photo, standing on top of a 130-135 ft Redwood spar after blowin' 100-110 ft top. 30-35 years ago when I still had hair.
  17. As usual your work in the tree, and with the camera is stellar Ben. Love your vids brother!
  18. I wear em' when I have too (very rarely climb with one). I have a different view on PPE and safety than most. Not for everybody, but it has worked for me for a very long time.
  19. Fun top and drop in the 210 ft - 215 range. The logs have been milled and the lumber is awful nice. This parcel has some big timber on it. Some of the logs on this windfall fought us all the way
  20. Little 160 ft Redwood removal. We removed 3 trees, which will be milled to rebuilt a redwood bridge for a small off-the-grid community.
  21. Thanks Steve. I appreciate it. Can someone please give me a step by step idiots guide to embedding vids from youtube?
